Zuri Berry

Internship newspaper: Marin Independent Journal (Novato, Calif.)

Berry transferred from City College of San Francisco in 2005. Before he came to Chico State, he wrote sports for the Vallejo Times-Herald. He also wrote for City College's campus newspaper, The Guardsman, and spent time as the newspaper's sports editor. Last summer, Berry was an intern for the Oakland Tribune through the Chips Quinn Scholars program. He currently contributes to the Chico Enterprise-Record and will be a sports intern at the Marin Independent Journal this summer.

Tang Lor

Tang Lor

Internship newspaper: Paradise Post (Paradise, Calif.)

Lor is a junior at Chico State, where she is majoring in news-editorial journalism with a minor in English. She has written for the news and features sections of The Orion, and will write for either the entertainment or sports sections next semester.

This summer, she will be interning at the Paradise Post. After graduation, she would like to work as a news reporter for a small- to medium-sized newspaper.

Olga Munoz

Olga Munoz

Internship newspaper: Salt Lake Tribune (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Munoz is majoring in Spanish and journalism at Chico State. She has been part of the staff of the school's student newspaper, The Orion, for three semesters as a writer for features and news and as a copy editor. In addition to working for the Salt Lake Tribune this summer, she will be contributing to its Spanish-language publication, Fronteras.

Last summer, Munoz interned at the Appeal-Democrat in Marysville, Calif., where she was a general-assignment reporter. Her career goal is to be a copy editor for a Spanish-language publication.

Munoz was born in Mimiapan, Mexico, a small town south of Mexico City. Her family moved to Oroville, Calif., when she was 4.

Chris Vongsarath

Chris Vongsarath

Internship newspaper: Tri-Valley Herald (Tracy, Calif., office)

After spending five years at Chico State, Vongsarath is graduating in May with a major in journalism. He was born in Modesto, Calif., and chose to come to Chico State because of its "awesome" journalism program, he said. Vongsarath will be serving as an intern at the Tri-Valley Herald in Tracy, where he will be doing copy editing.

Sharon Marie Yep

Sharon Marie Yep

Internship newspaper: San Jose Mercury News (San Jose, Calif.)

Yep, a third-year senior, is majoring in news-editorial journalism with a minor in linguistics. She will be serving as The Orion's online editor in the fall, which will be her fifth semester on staff. She has been an entertainment writer, entertainment editor, managing editor and chief copy editor.

In September, Yep was one of only 10 students in the nation to receive a $10,000 Scripps-Howard Top Ten Student Journalists scholarship.

Yep interned last summer as a general-assignment reporter at the Union Democrat in Sonora, Calif. She will be pursuing her true love this summer at the San Jose Mercury News, where she will be working as a news copy editor.

Her dream job would be to travel around the country working night shifts as a copy editor for major newspapers.
