onto Chico's famed Hooker
Oak, named after the 19th century botanist, Sir Joseph
Dalton Hooker, who was a friend and confidant of Charles
Darwin. Hooker visited the tree during a visit to Chico at
the invitation of John Bidwell,
Chico's founder and first philanthropist.
