I've been at Chico State since Fall semester 2006. I received my PhD from University of Georgia, and had postdoctoral training at Florida International University and the University of Virginia.

Melissa studys the population genetics and conservation of the California endemic, Phacelia cookei, native to Mt. Shasta region.  Melissa is also an accomplished fiddle player and teaches Botany at Butte College.  She received her B.S. from Texas State University.

JP began a MS after working in the lab as an undergrad on several projects.  He plans to study reproductive isolating mechanisms in Mimulus including pollinator discrimination.  JP is also an elite mountain bike racer and father of the legendary Oscar.

Nicole is planning several experiments to characterize the strength of barriers to mating between Mimulus guttatus and M. glaucesens.  Nicole received her bachelor's degree from Cedar Crest College in PA, and wins the prize for the Most Exciting First Field Season Ever.

Deb has an innate affection for parasitic plants, and has been testing hypotheses about how host inbreeding is predicted to influence defense against parastic plant attack.  In her spare time, she builds her amazing insect collection.

Allan is interested in exploring the functional genomics of floral color polymorphisms.  He has been helping out on a variety of projects in the lab, and is also a computer wizard and hydroponics enthusiast.

Melissa has been helping on various projects in the lab, and has quickly established herself as an expert trichome counter.  She also is a meticulous insect curator, and an accomplished concert pianist.

Courtney started working in the lab this semester, and has become an enthusiastic stomatal density expert. She is interested in behavioral ecology and loves getting out to do field work.
