Internal Combustion Vehicles:
Internal Combustion Hydrogen follows the same principles of your standard gasoline engine today. It is simply a method of burning hydrogen within the engine to make to pistons move and thus propel the vehicle. The technology for this type of engine goes all the way back to 1807 when the first internal combustion engine was designed to run on hydrogen.
Although this is a plausible alternative fuel source, most car companies prefer to pursue the hydrogen fuel cell technology which is more efficient, yet far from ready.
