Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve : The Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve and the CSU, Chico Research Foundation's Ecological Reserve System work together to preserve critical habitat and to provide a natural area for environmental research and education. 

Big Chico Creek Watershed Alliance : The Big Chico Creek Watershed Alliance serves to protect and enhance the ecological integrity and economic vitality of the Big Chico Creek watershed through cooperative efforts.  In partnership with landowners, interested citizens, government agencies and private enterprise, they work to foster education, understanding, sustainable land management, and ecosystem and water quality restoration and conservation.

Butte County Evironmental Council : The Butte Environmental Council is a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 and serves to foster increased public awareness of local, regional and statewide environmental issues through education and advocacy, provide a central referral service for environmental organizations and the general public throughout Northern California and helps fund programs through membership dues, fundraising events, contracts, and community and business sponsorships.
